In Five Years Time Tag

Hello everyone!

I'm finally getting round to doing this tag that my wonderful blogging friend Lou tagged me in. Check out her amazing post here.

As you can tell from the title, this tag is called "In Five Years Time" where, essentially, you list a load of things that you hope will happen in the next 5 years. Also, as part of the rules you have to mention the creator, Lauren, and the person who tagged you.

So here we go, my hopes and aspirations for the future are to:
  • Have moved out and be living on my own- As much as I love living at home, I'm so excited to move out, choose my own flat and decorate it how I wish. I have no idea how I'd decorate my own home but I'm really looking forward to being surrounded by the things I chose.
  • Have reached 1000 subscribers- This is a pretty ambitious one because I know that having one thousand people watch my videos is a crazy thought. I can't believe that I have the amount of subscribers that I currently do, but having 1000 people watch the thing I'm the most proud of really would be a dream come true.
  • Have reached 1000 blog followers- This is also really ambitious, but if I'm saying I'd like to reach that many subscribers, why not blog followers? My blog is another thing that I'm extremely proud of, so I'd be extremely flattered if in the next 5 years I had that many readers.
  • Have a career- I have noooooo idea what I want to do with my life but I do know that I want it to be media and youtube/blogging based. And maybe a bit of psychology if that's possible (don't know how I'd link it but still).  I've finally found my passion in life and  I'll do anything I can to do it as a full time job, even if it means doing the behind the scenes work for someone else. I'd love to have any sort of experience in this field.
  • Go to YouTube conventions- I really feel like I've found "my people" within the YouTube community so I'm sure I'd feel completely at home surrounded by people who are like me. I'm desperately gonna try to get tickets to Summer In The City this year and one day I'd love to go to VidCon.
  • Meet my blogging and YouTube friends- I've made such lovely friends through blogging and youtube and I'm desperate to meet them in real life. I'd just love to see them in person and be able to thank them for all the support they've given me.
  • Get more cats- Simple, yet essential! I kinda have an obsession with these fluffy little creatures, and one of my goals for the next few years is to be surrounded by them.

Thank you so much for reading about my aspirations for the next 5 years. I know some of them are quite out there, but I think its still worth it to dream big. The song of the day is Wings by Birdy, because she's my obsession at the moment and she is so ridiculously talented. Let me know in the comments what you're hoping to achieve in the next 5 years xxx

London Vlog

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to pop down to London for a day. I hadn't been for a couple of years, and since London is my favourite city, I was pretty excited to go again.

I hope you enjoy the video! :)

The reason we went in the first place was because my friend Alina from Germany came over and as a belated birthday present we decided to show her the wonderful sights in London. It was really fun being a tourist for a day.

Well to start of with, when we got out the car park we got lost because my dad was holding the map upside down. Not a great start haha!

Since we arrived at lunch time we decided to go and grab a bite to eat. We wanted to go to a Pizza Express because we were all craving a pizza (as always) and found a lovely one right in the middle of a cute little square. They were even playing Ed Sheeran on the radio so it was literal perfection.

Then, as we started walking about we needed the toilets so we decided to try and find some in Selfridges. It took us about half an hour to find any though because the shop is so bloody huge! And verrrry expensive. Let's just say it was clear we were only there to use the toilets because we didn't exactly fit in. I legit saw a woman buying a pair of Gucci shoes for her daughter that was about 3 years old!

Then we hunted down the Lush on Oxford Street which had to be my absolute favourite bit. You could smell the shop from the other side of the road and everywhere you look you see bags filled with bath bombs. Not to mention the fact that the staff there are some of the nicest people I've ever met and they were extremely helpful. I seriously wanted to move into that shop and never leave.

We spent the rest of the evening looking at as many of the major tourist sights as we could. We walked round Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. Then we walked past Big Ben to the London Eye and walked down the roads next to the Thames.

Sadly, it was getting late so we had to start making our way back. We took a taxi that gave us our final tour around London for the day. We drove past Hyde Park (I think?) and down to Buckingham Palace. I only remember seeing it once before when I was 8 and very tired so it was nice to be able to see it again.

It was a really special day and we all had such an amazing time. I'm glad I vlogged the day because I seriously wanted to be able to savour the memory of going down to my favourite city again. The song of the day is Headlights by Robin Schulz. Have you ever been to London, and if so, what did you think of it? xxx

University- To Go Or Not To Go?

If you're looking for helpful advice on whether to go to Uni or not, this probably isn't going to be the most useful post ever. This is merely me expressing my dilemma and drawing up the advantages and disadvantages of going. Also, please help me lol!

If you didn't already know, I'm an extremely indecisive person. Like to the point where I can't even decide on what meal to have at a restaurant. As you can imagine, I'm having quite a lot of difficulty making decisions that will effect the rest of my life.

"She's indecisive, She can't decide, She keeps on looking, from left to right"
Forever getting that song stuck in my head from the word indecisive

And talking to other people who were in the same boat as me didn't exactly help. Everyone I talked to who did go to uni said that it was good fun but they didn't really need it. And everyone I spoke to that said they didn't go said they really wish they did. Someone at my work experience had do make up with the qualifications he could have got in uni, by doing 15 years of night school. 15 years!!!

Does 15 years of night school sound appealing?

And this is where my dilemma starts. See, I'm obviously aware that university gives you an advantage if you know what you want to do. And I've heard nothing but good stories about all the friends you make, parties you go to and the memories you make. However, I don't know what I want to do, and I don't really feel like doing a degree for the sake of it or just because everyone is.

See my main problem is that I have noooooooo idea what to study or where to study it. I love the idea of getting a psychology degree and if I was going to go to uni that would be the subject I would study. But I don't really see myself being a psychologist, or not full time anyway. I'd use it to help me get further in a different career, for example marketing.

And its just the fact that the courses nowadays cost a lot of money. Like a lot of money. And I have like zero money. And when I ask people who said they were glad to go to uni, if they would still do the same degree nowadays considering how much it costs they said "actually, probably not!"

This will be me asking the bank for a loan if I do decide to go

So in summary: I don't know where to study, I don't know if I want to study in the first place, I don't want to go just because everyone else is and I don't have a spare £12,000 a year to spend on something I'm not exactly fussed about, but I have no idea what to do instead if I don't go to university.

An accurate representation of me trying to decide what to do with my life

I'm still not certain if I'll be going to uni or not, I don't want to completely dismiss it at this stage though. I do know that I'll definitely be taking a gap year and I'm more than excited for that!

I'm sure I'll feel like this guy when I come back from my "Gap Yah"
If you have no idea what I'm talking about here's the video

Thank you for putting up with yet another one of my little rambles. The song of the day is Eeenie Meenie by Justin Bieber and Sean Kingston because I have that song stuck in my head after writing this post. Has anyone been in this situation or have any advice, if so please let me know in the comments xxx

My Uploading Schedule

I'm feeling somewhat productive and organised today, so I thought I'd actually create an uploading and posting schedule.

Now if you know me, you'll know that I'm the least organised person and everything is kind of last minute with me. I'm quite a "go with the flow" person and just the thought of planning out everything in my life stresses me out. In my opinion, if something is supposed to happen, it will happen so there's not much point trying to plan everything out.

But I was planning my post and video ideas and I had no idea when to post them or when I'd have time to film and write them. So I thought I'd start a little routine so that I can allocate the same hours each week towards my channel and blog without confusing myself about when I'd have time.

So here we go, here's my new schedule (I'm quite proud of myself for finally coming up with one):

  • Videos: Every Wednesday or every other Wednesday- I didn't want to post a video too often  because that would take away the time I should spend on my school work, and more importantly, my blog! But I didn't want to post any less, so about 2 videos a month will have to do for now.
  • Izzy K Reviews posts: Every Saturday- I have so many ideas for my second blog but it seems I never write them so this will motivate me to post regularly on my other blog.
  • Izzy K posts: Whenever I have time- This is sort of my online diary so I'll post whenever something exciting happens in my life or when a particular thought gets stuck in my mind.
The song of the day is Naive by The Kooks. Let me know in the comments if you prefer this routine to me posting at completely random times. Thanks for reading xxx

Permenantly Catching Up

I don't really know where I'm going with this post but basically do you ever have those days where no matter what you do, and no matter how hard you try, everything just kinda fails? Because I certainly do! And recently starting sixth form again seems to have reminded me of that.

Don't get me wrong, I know I'm an extremely fortunate person, and I just want to start of by saying I'm not ungrateful for anything I have. It just seems a bit much and like I spend my life permanently catching up with everything.

Right now I genuinely feel like they're something wrong with me. For some reason, no matter how hard I try, I just can't keep up in situations where everyone else seems to be coping just fine. It's like I'm simply slowing down in a world that's speeding up and nothing can stop me spiraling out of control.

I have always been the type of person that wants to do everything, and be good at it! A feeling I hate is knowing that I didn't put 100% effort into something. I also like trying new things, after all, that's what makes life interesting isn't it? However I feel like I get involved too quickly in things, and before I get the chance to say no, I'm committed.

I would also just like to say that if it looks like I never put any effort in, its because I'm trying to make it look like that. I guarantee that behind all the failed tests that I claimed "I didn't even revise for" has been hours of preparation. Another reason it may look like I don't put effort in is because I've lost all motivation after constantly failing.

Here are some of the many reasons I feel like I can't keep up with my life:

  • A levels. At the end of year 11 I found myself choosing my A level subjects and I was having difficulty narrowing down the subjects. I then decided to do four core subjects and German as an extra subject since I already have a head start in the language by having German family. However, even with this advantage, doing an extra subject isn't exactly a walk in the park.
This is what my room looks like with all my notes

  • YouTube and blogging. I seriously want my videos and posts to be as good as they can possibly be and it annoys me like crazy that it doesn't come across. Believe me when I say I spend all the time I can working on my channel and blog, even if that means staying up every night. Also, there is always so much to catch up on and there are so many people on the internet who I want to support, but due to time, I can't keep up to date with the entire time. If it were up to me I would comment on and like every single video/post from the people I follow.
When I stay up till 2am finishing blog posts

  • Tiredness. The sentence I say the most is "wow I'm so tired". This is no doubt the consequence of staying up way past midnight every night thanks to homework and editing. No matter how much homework I get I will always find a way to work on my channel or blog. However, it means when morning comes I'm way too sleepy to actually concentrate on my subjects that I actually want to do well in.
Me the day after staying up late

  • Clubs and other commitments. I've been a member of sports clubs for ages and right now I can't quit because we're working towards stuff and I'd let everyone down if I did. However, I have absolutely no time to practice so I'm rubbish at it and let everyone down anyway. Also, my clubs are at the end of the week which means I'm exhausted and have no time to rest and recover for the next week.
What I feel my karate's like after having no time to practice

  • I need to find a job. Like seriously, loads of people in my year have a job and I don't know how they have time for it. I feel like at my age everyone is expecting me to have a part time job and I need one anyway to be able to pay for the things I buy for my blog.
Every time I check my bank account

  • Friends and family. I'd love to spend all the time I can catching up with friends and family because it's important. Unfortunately, I always cancel plans because I'm busy doing homework or I'm just too exhausted to go out. I feel like my social life (if you can even call it one) is seriously suffering as result.
When my family tells me to stop working and actually get a life

Basically, I'm writing this post because I'm sick of working my absolute socks off and it not showing in any aspect of my life. I'm tired of not being able to meet everyone's expectations and it just leads to constant disappointment. If you have been in this situation than I am willing to listen to your advice. I'm gonna work 100% harder than I usually do catch up and I hope it pays off. The song of the day is Poison by Rita Ora (just cus it's an absolute tune!) Thanks for reading this little ramble xxx

Back To School Advice

I know that some of  you are already back at school but I still thought I'd share this little video giving a few of my tips for the new school year. After all, it's never too late to improve when you're given advice (not saying any of you need to improve you're all perfect!)

Whenever I told people I was filming this video they were like "Wait what? You're gonna be giving advice? Like to actual real life people?" As you can probably tell my previous advice has gone down just amazingly! But nevertheless I think I actually did an ok-ish job giving back to school advice. Well, this is the advice that I personally would have liked to been given.

Here's the actual video itself:

I hope you found the video useful

I hope you enjoyed the video and found it some what useful. The song of the day is What I Go To School For by Busted. If you have already started the new school year I hope you've had a good time so far and if you haven't started yet I hope you'll have a great first week back. Thanks for reading xxx

Summer Favourites

Wait, what? Izzy's doing favourite videos?

Yes you heard me correctly, today's the day I've started to upload favourite videos. I'm pretty rubbish at updating my life and filming videos regularly so I've decided only to do seasonal favourites instead of monthly favourites.

But nevertheless, here's the video in case you want to see for yourself what I've been loving this Summer:

I hope you enjoy!

I split my favourites into four categories which were:
  • YouTube
  • Music
  • Cosmetics
  • Makeup
I was thinking of including more categories for my next video, but I thought it was enough to start off with. Besides I didn't want the video to be too long and boring. If you have any category suggestions I'd be happy to hear them!

Thank you for watching, the song of the day is Photograph by Ed Sheeran (I know its been song of the day loads before but I personally never get sick of it). Let me know in the comments what your "Summer Favourites" have been xxx
