Weekly Summary Post: 4th Week Of January

What's up guys, guess who forgot to post this on a Sunday like I'm supposed to? That's right, it's me. But better late than never eh?

So here's what you missed on glee oh wait sorry I meant my youtube channel:

December/January Favourites

Because December was a very busy month for me, I didn't actually have time to post a favouites video. Instead, I combined my January and December favourites into one giant video. I've talked about new genres of favourites, such as comedians, so I hope you enjoy the variety of topics. And of course, I lip synced a lot because it wouldn't even be an Izzy K video without having a little jam sesh.

How My Shoutout Sunday Series Works?!

And I recently decided to replace my "Izzynterview" series with a shoutout series. So every last Sunday of the month will be dedicated to "shoutouting" out channels who supported me. And here's how you can get involved.

January Shoutout Sunday

Wanna know who I shoutout out this month? Please watch to find out!

So there you go, that's everything I posted on my channel this week. The song of the day is We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off, but the Little Chris version because that's an absolute tune. Thanks for reading/watching,

Things I've Learnt In My Gap Year... So Far

I don't think I've mentioned it on my blog yet (note the sarcasm) but I'm currently on my gap year. Since it's now January, I'm a little off half way through my gap year, and I've learnt many lessons already. So I thought I'd do a little reflection post and tell you what my life lessons are, just in case you're interested.

The first thing I've learnt is that it's OK not to have a fully thought out plan. The idea of having a gap year was something that kinda, sorta, really, terrified me because I was just diving into the pit of the unknown. But to be honest, I'm feeling rather settled and excited with my basic plan of the year; get a job (done), get into university (done) and make plans to travel (doing that currently). And I'm thoroughly loving the spontaneity that the last few months have brought to my life.

The second thing I learnt is that Psychology was not the subject that I was destined to take at degree level. Although I adored the subject at A Level and I truly have a deep interest in it, my real passion is media and I just want to learn more about that subject. The only thing I can truly picture myself studying is media, and I'm glad I had my gap year to clear my head about what I wanted to study. And now I'm also so insanely excited for university, after seeing how much all my friends have been enjoying it.

The third thing I learnt is that I'm capable of more than I knew. Cheesy I know! But it's true; I never in a million years thought I'd get the job on the day of my first ever interview, but I did. I was so incredibly nervous on my first day of working and interacting with the public and my coworkers, but it's something that I actually rather enjoy. My confidence is building on the daily, and I 100% put it down to the experiences I'm having in my gap year.

My next life lesson is that the general public can be well annoying, and if you work in retail you know what I'm talking about. Don't get me wrong, most customers are sweet, but you do get the odd gem come into the shop. My favourite thing is when the customers explain to you, the shop worker, how your shop's policies work. How helpful! Or when someone asks if you can find a t-shirt they'd recently seen, and the only description of its appearance that they will give you is "it was really nice... you know?"

And the last life lesson that I'll be talking about today is money. I've truly learned how to budget my salary, and not blow all my earnings on night outs and makeup. Well, at least I'm getting better at not spending all my money on that. I'm now looking at what I spend in hours I work. And I think to myself, "is that makeup item really worth it, I mean I'll have to work 3 hours of my life for that!"

So that is what I've learned thus far, and I hope you've found it somewhat relatable. The song of the day is Womanizer by Britney Spears, because that absolute anthem just popped up on my playlist. Do you have any life lessons that you've recently learnt, that you'd like to share in the comments?

Weekly Summary Post: 3rd Week Of January

Hey guys it's that time of the week where I summarize what I posted on my youtube channel over the last 7 days. However, I was rather annoyed with myself because I only managed to post one video this week and I hate missing my schedule. Its just been a busy week and the video I did film this week was just shockingly awful so I just couldn't bring myself to even edit it, yet alone upload it.

Winter Blues Makeup Tutorial

For Christmas I was lucky enough to receive the Jeffree Star "Abused" liquid lipstick and I truly fell in love with the colour. That's why I decided to basically dedicate an entire look to this shade. I always thought purple was my favourite lipstick colour, but now I'm gonna branch out into the blue shades a bit more.

So I'm really sorry for not sticking to my upload schedule this week, but I only want to post videos that I'm satisfied with. The song of the day is Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran. Thank you very much for watching and reading,

The January Tag

Wow what's happening? I'm actually posting on schedule? How did that happen?
Anyway, I really really love the beautiful month that is January. So I wanted to see whether or not a "January Tag" exists. And then I saw that this tag was wonderfully created by jadeslemonade.wordpress.com and you can check out her post here! I highly recommend you check out her post, I really enjoyed reading her answers :)

Did you make a New Year's Resolution? (if yes, what was it and how is it going so far?)

I actually made two videos about my new years videos which are up on my youtube channel. But my main resolution was to gain more confidence this year and I'm (very slowly but surely) getting there now.

What is your favourite thing about this month?

Partaaaaaays. My birthday is on the 14th and I love a good ol' celebration. For me, I just continue to celebrate and be excited during this month. And I just love Winter as a whole anyway, so January is a reminder that it's not quite over yet.

On what date did you eat the last of your Christmas chocolates?

Urrrhh, December 26th...

What is on your wishlist for payday at the end of the month?

Basically any clothes from new look and any makeup from Soap&Glory. Payday couldn't come soon enough for me, but I do need to start saving more.

What is your go-to dinner on these cold evenings?

Tortellini. I literally crave it around 4pm every evening at work and just look forward to having it when I get home.

Which TV show have you been enjoying most this month?

I've always been a huge fan of the TV show Shameless (the UK version) and recently I discovered the US version. I didn't think it would be able to live up to the original version, but I must say it's a very good remake. And besides, it's so addictive to watch.

Describe the coat that's been keeping you warm this January?

I've been loving my khaki and pink bomber jackets soooooo much, they're just so easy to wear. And when it's colder I like to pop on my old, but thick black jacket with a fluffy hood. It just really does the job to keep you warm.

Been loving baths or showers?

I wish I had the time to have baths because I've got a load of lush bath bombs to use up. But I do find myself jumping in the shower more than having a bath because it's quicker.

Prefer the dark mornings or dark evenings?

Dark evenings because I love coming home from work and sitting in bed feeling nice and cosy when it's dark outside. And anyway, who can even get out of bed in the morings when it's pitch black outside?

Cosy bed socks- yay or nay?

I think I might have mentioned this on my blog before but I literally don't wear socks ever ever ever. I just hate the material of them so that's why I don't even own like one pair of them.

There was my version of the January tag. This is literally one of my favourite times of the year, so I thought it would be fun to do a post to honor that. The song of the day is Castle On The Hill by the wonderful Ed Sheeran!

Weekly Summary Post: 1st Two Weeks Of January

Hi guys, this will be my first weekly summary post of 2017 because, well, I haven't been very good at my blogging schedule since December. But I just thought I'd catch you all up on what you may have missed on my channel this month. It's better late than never eh?

New Years Resolutions

January is that time of year where we all think about ways we can improve ourselves throughout the upcoming year. I don't know about you, but I personally try to make resolutions all the way through the year. But I still had specific things in mind that I wanted to have achieved by the end of 2017, so if you wanna know what they are then please watch!

The New Years Resolution Tag

And another new years resolution video because... I forgot to mention everything I wanted to in the first video oops! But I did make it slightly different to the last video, so hopefully it isn't too repetitive.

The Vamps Concert Vlog (25.03.16 Birmingham)

This is quite an old video, but unfortunately I had to reupload it due to copyright claims. Ironically it wasn't even because of The Vamps' songs, it was because of one song that was playing in the background in one clip of the video. But it's one of my favourite concerts that I've been to so I thought it would be weird not having it on my channel.

Everyday Makeup Routine

I desperately needed to update my everyday makeup routine on my channel because my last one was like 2 years old. And it's safe to say my makeup style has changed quite a bit since then.

11 Things I've Learned In 11 Years

And because I recently turned 19 (yet still look the age of about 11) I decided to reflect on some life lessons that I've learned.

Thank you very much for watching/reading. The song of the day is Your Love by Little Mix. I promise one day the song of the day wont be by that girl group, but today is not that day! How has your January been so far?

New Year New Blog?!

Happy 2017 everybody! I know it's already pretty late to be writing about the new year, but I hope you all celebrated nicely :)

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it; I didn't do very well in terms of blogging throughout December. Over here on this blog I was supposed to do blogmas. I only made it a couple of days in until I just couldn't keep up with the demanding schedule of posting daily. I also completely stopped posting on Izzy K: Reviews & Chats for pretty much the same reason.

December was simply just such a busy month for me, much more than I anticipated. For starters, I was applying to university so I was spending every spare moment doing last minute research on courses, universities themselves and writing my personal statement. Then there's the fact I have work too, and even though I'm part time during the week, my work days are pretty long. Aaaaaand there's the fact I went out a lot during the holiday season with friends. So my days ended up being me leaving the house at 8.30am for work, going straight out after work at 6pm for various celebrations, and then not coming home until the early hours of the morning. But you know, I've worked hard all year long, so I decided to give myself as much time off during the December because I feel as though I deserve to end the tragic year that was 2016 with guilt free enjoyment.

But now I'm back to my usual blogging schedule which will be:

  • Posting at least once a week about random topics on this blog
  • Posting my weekly youtube summary every Sunday on this blog
  • Posting every Saturday on my other blog (linked above)

So after my break I can well and truly say I'm extremely motivated to get back into blogging. The song of the day is Oops by Little Mix ft Charlie Puth. Will the song of the day ever not be a Little Mix song? Probably not!

Summary Of 2016

2016, where to start? Let's face it, this year most definitely has had its ups and downs. I'm personally done with all the negative surprises and twists that the last year has thrown at us, but you know what I feel like it's made me a stronger person. I'm heading into 2017 with the attitude of "if it's not good enough for me, I won't stand for it". No more taking crap off anyone or anything, I'm determined to be stronger this year. And to be more motivated and productive and ready for anything, of course!

A few of the memories captured on my instagram
in 2016

So on a positive note, I decided to reflect on all the amazing things I've been up to this year. I've made many many memories this year, and I would definitely class 2016 as one of the most eventful years of my life. Here's a little summary of the things I got up to, and feel free to click on the events that I've written a blog post for to read about them in more detail:

  • 1st January- New Years- I think this goes without saying, but yeah on Jan 1st I celebrated the new year and welcomed 2016 into my life
  • 14th January- My 18th Birthday- That's right, I turned into a real life adult! How did that happen?
  • 15th January- Got my tragus pierced- I was really naughty and went into Birmingham to get my tragus pierced without my parents permission. They still hate my piercing, but I'm still so glad I went ahead with it because it's definitely my favourite piercing
  • 23rd January- Celebrated my 18th Birthday with friends- To be honest I don't remember a lot about this night other than the fact there was lot's of vodka involved...
  • 27th January- Started my "Izzynterview" series- To say thank you to all the wonderful people who have supported my channel over the last 3 years, I wanted to start a collab series. (Izzynterview being a mix between "Izzy" and "Interview"!)
  • 13th February- All Time Low concert- I'd never seen this band live before, but I must say I was truly truly impressed!
  • 22nd February- Mock exams- This was basically when I started to wave goodbye to my freedom and got buried in A Levels
  • 11th March- Had my driving theory exam- And I actually managed to pass
  • 12th March- Dance show- Every 2 years since I was 3, my dance school has put on a dance show. I got really emotional finishing my last ever one.
  • 18th March- Little Mix concert- If you didn't know that I'm a huge Little Mix fan, where have you been?
  • 25th March- The Vamps concert- If you didn't know that I'm a huge Vamps fan, where have you been?
  • 16th April- Troye Sivan- If you didn't know... ok I think I've used that one before. But for my birthday my friends surprised me with Troye tickets and I'm so so thankful that they invited me along, his beautiful voice was so very beautiful live.
  • 6th May- Shawn Mendes- Me and Georgie managed to get ourselves down to London to watch Shawn perform live. And let me tell you his voice is just flawless live.
  • 12th May- German Speaking exam- This was basically the start of my A2 exams and I had to go to one of the other schools in Birmingham to sit my speaking exam. Luckily I passed and got an A in the actual module.
  • 27th May- Leaver's day- My last official day in eduction (not including the days I had to go in to sit my exams) This was such an amazing day, where we all dressed up in fancy dress and drank a loooooooot!
  • 8th June- A2 exams started- Urrghghghhhhh so glad I never have to sit another A level again!
  • 23rd June- My first day of a gap year- This is when it really hit me that I'm a literal adult. Like I had 0 plans for my future at this point of the year, no job, and I really had no clue what I was doing now that I'd left education. But let me tell you, I found it exciting!
  • 22nd July- Went to Germany- Every year my family visits Germany to visit friends and family. I had a wonderful time, as I always do when I go.
  • 13th August- SITC- SUMMER IN THE CITY! Literally the best 2 days of my life where I got to meet the most wonderful people
  • 18th August- Results day- I was absolutely terrified to pick up my exam results because I wasn't in the best mental state this year and I knew I failed a few of the individual exams this year. But over the 2 years I managed to get the grades ABDD overall, which I'm actually pretty chuffed with.
  • 22nd August- Dublin- I've basically been waiting my whole entire life to visit Ireland, and I can't believe my dream came true and I actually travelled to Dublin with 3 friends.
  • 31st August- 1st driving test- Ok yeah I didn't pass my driving test the first time... or the second. But hey maybe 2017 will be the year where I pass?!
  • 3rd September- Busted gig- I'm very thankful that my Uncle managed to hire one of my childhood favourite bands to perform a gig where he works. I've never seen them live before so it was really a dream come true doing that.
  • 12th September- Started my job- I was so terrified of starting work and having to go to an interview and all that. But I settled in pretty quick and have great banter with my colleagues. And on top of that I'm getting that $$$ so I really can't complain ;)
  • 29th October- Warwick Castle Haunted Castle- I love all things Halloween so when I heard that Warwick castle was doing a haunted castle event I was there in a heartbeat!
  • 13th November- Twenty One Pilots- Me and Georgie had quite the adventure travelling down to London to see this amazing band.
  • 10th December- German Market- Me, Coral and Sophie decided to have a little youtube meetup in Birmingham. It was very Christmassy and I loved seeing those girlies again.
  • 11th December- Work Christmas Party- This was my first ever "work" Christmas party, and the night was pretty eventful to say the least!
  • 31st December- New Years Eve- I had a very fun time partying for New Years Eve with a couple of friends in a club in Birmingham. It was honestly a great way to start the new year!

So there you go that was my summary of 2016, The song of the day has got to be Shout Out To My
Ex by Little Mix because it's honestly my fave song of the year. I hope you all have a wonderful year, 2017 let's see what you've got!
